Amazon has introduced the new generation ebook wireless reading device which is named Kindle 2, and is a lot better than the previous version of Kindle from Amazon. The device has surely become thinner, but also is brighter and the keys functionality and many other things have shown a lot of improvement.
There are quite a few changes made from the previous Kindle and here are a few of them -
- The previous version looked like some computers which were just built from scratch, but this Kindle 2 has curved edges and the design is sleek and resembles the smartphones of these days, like iPhone.
- Screen is 6 inch tall, and can now turn pages 20% faster than the previous generation Kindle.
- No changes in the price – There is no rise or drop in the prize of Kindle 2, which is for about $359.
- There is a 5-way joystick which is better than the scroll previously which helps in moving from line to line.
- Storage has become 7x higher than earlier, so 1500 titles can be stored all at a time.
- There are no changes in the speed of the download of books from the previous version of Kindle.
- It comes in a single color, i.e. White and looks the best in it.
- Text-to-Speech is a new awesome feature for readers who can have the computerized voice talk anything in one of the 3 speech rates and you can choose to have the voice from male or female.
- The previous Kindle just had 4 shades of gray, but the new Kindle 2 comes with 16 shades of gray.
This new Kindle 2 is available for pre-order and the actual shipping will start from February 24th.

Good terse review. I agree that the Kindle 2 is sleek and beautiful compared to the awkward Kindle 1. It looks like you got your hands on one. Excellent!
Check my site out for a review too. It’s quite long and in-depth and includes some others’ testimonies of the Kindle 2.
Btw, I like your site Chetan. It’s clean and organized. Good job! I’ve already read a few of your articles and I have to say you are a good blogger. Thank you for your contributions to the community at large.

It would be fantastic if they started to retail this outside of the states!
