Antivirus and security softwares compatible with Windows 7

win 7The windows xp and vista OS have got compatibility with thousands of antivirus programs, most of them can be found as searched here and here.

But the newly released beta version of Windows 7, has also got the nearly same interface etc. to other OS versions. And that needs protection from the viruses and spyware.
And Windows 7 can work with only 3 antivirus programs that it has suggested, but also read this notice given by them -

Important: Before you install antivirus software, check to make sure you don’t already have an antivirus product on your computer. If you do, be sure to remove the product you don’t want before you install the new one. It can cause problems on your computer to have two different antivirus products installed at the same time.

And now, these are the antivirus and security softwares for Windows 7 -
1. Kaspersky – Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces the release of a technical prototype of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7. The prototype version for Windows 7 has an antivirus, a firewall, and also a spam-filter which function correctly, but needs suggestions and is waiting for the actual release from the beta stage of Windows 7. You can download the prototype from here.

2. Norton 360 v3.0 Beta – This is also in Beta stage for the Win 7 beta. You have to register to install it. Check it out at registration page.

3. AVG antivirus – The best and reliable. They have already got the special antivirus, fully featured and ready for Windows 7, but they might charge you for the full version. You can still try out the trial version and download from here. And i think trial version might do enough for the beta version of Windows 7.

If you are experimenting with Windows 7 already, be sure to download at least one of those antivirus and security programs. Download Windows 7 Beta version if you want to test it out.

  2. Also add avira to the list. I have been running it on my PC now for some time with no problems. There is a free for personal use option with Avira

  3. Xscape says:

Yea, this is to be expected when you get a new OS. It takes time to develop this material so people trying the beta need to be careful. It’s important to remember that it’s not perfect yet and there will be vulnerabilities.

Does it work with ESET Smart Security
