Apple launches Aperture 3 app – Photo editing and management tool

Apple® has launched the 3rd version of Aperture app, the Aperture™ 3 which has been the best photo editing and management tool for mac users, with amazing features that can bring the best and maximum flexibility to the photographers for editing pictures. Faces, Places and Brushes are a few features that have been for some time in iPhoto ’09. iPhoto was being used by many photographers because they were not able to find what they needed, in Aperture. But now this release makes most of it available.

Aperture 3 allows you to organise large photo libraries with even more flexibility using Projects and the new Faces and Places.

Faces takes advantage of face detection and recognition to find the people in the photos, and then organizing them according to the recognized people. According to your wish, the faces can either appear in few selected projects, or else in the entire photo library. To make the process of photo organization and management better, Aperture 3 is released to show photos that have recognized faces which have got no name yet in your library.

Places is a feature that lets you see photos based on the location where they were taken, and it reverses geocodes GPS data into user-friendly locations. There are options like dragging and dropping the photos in particular map locations to set the photo locations, or else it pulls the data from GPS enabled devices like iPhone which store the location data when photo is being clicked.

The Brushes feature helps in adding extra effects to the photos and helps to make you work on the photos more professionally. It has 15 Quick Brushes that perform the most popular tasks like Dodge, Burn, Polarize and Blur. It automatically detects edges and lets you decide where to apply the effects. You can create your own custom presets or explore the techniques of other photographers by importing theirs.

Aperture 3 makes it easy to share your work with stunning slideshows that weave together photos, audio, text and HD video. You can export your slideshows directly to iTunes® to take with you on your iPhone or iPod touch®. You can also share photographs as beautiful prints, create custom-designed hardcover books and publish to online photo sharing sites like Facebook and Flickr, right from Aperture 3.

You can first download the trial version of Aperture 3 from here. Aperture 3 runs as a 64-bit application on Mac OS® X Snow Leopard® on Macs with Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Its available for $199 and in India it costs Rs. 11,000 for new users. Existing users can upgrade for Rs. 5,700.
