Apple Macbook Air review
The thin-is no joke, because its thickness varies between 0.4 centimeters and 1.94 centimeters at the widest part. How Apple has succeeded in putting a computer in that size? Engineering and a little help from Intel, which has manufactured processors to measure.
The processor that comes equipped with the MacBook Air is an Intel Core 2 Duo with a 4 MB cache, a choice between a version of 1.6 GHz and 1.8-GHz. 2 GB RAM DDR2 a 667 MHz. It comes with 2 GB of RAM DDR2 667 MHz.
The screen has a size of 13.3-inch widescreen format, so that its maximum resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels. It is managed by an Intel GMA X3100 graphics card that shares memory with 144 MB RAM main. If we chose to use the available video outputs can obtain maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
Speaking of video outputs directly only has a Micro-DVI output, but the laptop comes with a pair of adapters, one to convert to DVI and another to convert it into VGA. Optionally, converters are also available to composite video and S-Video.
In paragraph storage, the version with a 1.6 GHz processor comes with an ATA hard drive with 80 GB 4200 rpm, a Pelin slow today but can be forgiven by the little space it occupies. The other version, by contrast, includes a record 64-GB SSD.
Apple was the precursor to do away with the floppy and it seems that it intends to do the same with optical drives, at least on laptops, because it does not include any. If we need to read a CD or DVD will have the option to do so remotely, using the unit of another computer can be equipped with this Windows or Mac OS X.
If we look at input devices, the keyboard is very similar to the MacBook, but with the keys and backlighting, incorporating a light sensor that adjusts both the brightness of this as the display. The trackpad has multitactile capabilities, although it remains to be seen to bear the applications. For now, what we saw in iPhoto.
The connectivity is offered by the Wi-Fi, being compatible with 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 and a USB 2.0 port.
The battery life is up to 5 hours and it is curious that in the specifications put it just above a logo of wireless productivity. Does this mean that lasted 5 hours with Wi-Fi enabled?
The weight of the laptop is 1.36 kilograms and its maximum dimensions of 1.94 x 32.5 x 22.7 centimeters. The price for the version with a 1.6 GHz processor and 80 GB hard drive is 1699 euros, while the other is 2798 euro.
As conclusions, as it has succeeded spectacularly put all this in such a short space. It is a good laptop, although it is not small, is not ultra portable that many expected.
It has also several serious drawbacks. The first is the inability to change any component, even the battery. It comes packaged as an iPod, so if we want to carry an extra battery parts longer we can go forgetting. Just to expand or change the RAM disk.
The second is the high price of the disc version with SSD, although it can not shift the blame to Apple. A record 64-GB SSD is expensive, but even more so if, as here, has a size of 1.8 inches rather than the more usual 2.5.

I really wanted one when it first came out… but after reading more about the features and capabilities of it, i don’t see how it’s beneficial other than it’s thin-ness. Apple is setting the standard for “cool” though!
