Twitter has given all users a list of some backgrounds which are the basic ones added after the recent changes made by them, but still having a very limited number of backgrounds would not look good and similarity between the profiles is not quite impressive. So there are some sites that provide cool backgrounds for twitter profiles which can make some changes.

One of them is Twitterpatterns. It has backgrounds categorized in various sections and you can download one of your choice. Here is how you can use them -
1. Click on any image to download it.
2. Unzip the file and read the terms if you haven’t already.
3. Go to your Twitter settings and choose DESIGN.
4. Choose “Change background image”, browse and upload the file.
5. Make sure “tile background” is checked and SAVE.

The background am using for my profile @sizzler_chetan is downloaded from there and is one of the simplest ones which adds some decency to the profile.
