This question has been there and been asked by people in quite a few forums and blogs, and i made a list of questions from the past few days browsing in the forums -
- How many times should i post per day?
- Does posting in slow rate affects my visitor rate?
- Posting frequently influences my blog rankings in search engines?
- Does writing very frequently get me more subscribers?
And now here are my thoughts on the topic -
My intention to make the blog successful is by adding content, not relying on the speed of posting. If you are planning to become a full time blogger then there is no problem in posting few posts a day. But everything just depends on the niche on which you are working on and blogging about.
Many bloggers struggle a lot in posting new content every day, and if they try to write the same type of posts and topics as in thousands of other blogs, then you are just trying to make your visitors run away. They won’t be impressed with your posts, although you try to make many posts per day. You know what? The increase in your posting rate will always be a major factor in decreasing your posts’ quality.(Yea many won’t agree but its a fact with most of the bloggers)

So how many times to post a day, you can post once a day, once in a couple of days or twice a week. Depends on the quality and your pattern of posting. If you are posting twice a day for a week and then changing it to twice a week, you are just killing your blog. Don’t always fluctuate the rate of posting in your blog. Always try to fix some schedules for blogging, and if you are already aware of being busy in future, use the “Post Timestamp” feature to save posts for future which automatically get published when you are not being online.
Answer to the 2nd question, its a general feeling that posting less frequently affects your visitor rate, but one of my blogger friend owns a blog with about 3000 subscribers who never came through/subscribed to participate in a contest etc. but they actually love the stuff that he writes. And amazingly he writes just once or couple times a week. So its just the topic which you are posting which majorly decides the visitor rate to your blog.
So now answer to the question “Posting frequently influences my blog rankings in search engines?”
Search engines love content, the more you post the more they would love you and crawl your sites. The ultimate work of search engines is to give the searcher with the best and appropriate unique results. So don’t try to scrap other site’s content. Be unique and be loved by search engines, don’t ever worry or think about search engines.
And lastly, Does writing very frequently get me more subscribers?
Post something useful, frequency is not an issue. As stated in the answer to question 2, you can get subscribers if you post slow also, but be always logistic and think before choosing the perfect niche for blogging, which would have a perfect future, and which you can actually blog about.

Some really cool points made there, I think a blog post a day with quality content is enough food for the search engine bots and posting regular content gives an impression that you are not LAZY in updating your blog and thus gets more RSS readers.
Some very good point made here Chetan!
So bottomline is, keep the same rate of posting frequency, write interesting and unique content and see your blog growing in every sense.
Good Analysis!

Solid advice. You should never be posting multiple times every day in my opinion. Some people also will just post utter nonsense to get a post in every day, but it is better to preserve quality than make a sacrifice for quantity.

I agree with the quality of the post is post important, if that means only one update per week then so be it. I am trying to build my blog at the minute so am trying to post once per day.

I try to post a minimum once a day twice if possible. More unique content equals more SE traffic.

One thing that I’ve witnessed with my blogging is the more you post, the more search engine relevancy seems to be given to your blogging masterpieces. One site of mine was in the top 10 for a number of searches until I retired the blog…then it disappeared from the face of humanity.
Weird.
Enjoy,

While I would love to being able to write daily, I think once every 3 days would be my best speed. That way it gives me time to write a fully reviewed post. I have time to choose a topic, type, find pictures, edit fonts, proofread, check my sources, read the newspaper and other blogs for inspiration, and come up with 3 new topics to add to my Topic List (so I always end up with extra topics to choose from).

But for those who need search engine traffic, any rate of posting would be fine until everything is unique
I think 1 or 2 Informative articles per day is enough to rank well and get good visitors (traffic) to our blog … if the visitor gets our blog unique and interesting ..m sure they will come back for sure

Not that much really, but that’s why I prefer posting when I thoroughly finish a post, not just to fill up. If people likes my blog and my content, I’m sure they won’t mind waiting a day or two for a good post instead of getting a lame post right away.

You don’t have to post everyday. If you really want to be on top of SERP then just make a very quality content and optimize well your blog. Too much blogging is not also good (I stil don’t know why, I have just read it in some blogs and forums).

It’s not good because it can cause reader and writer burnout. You could end up losing your will to write consistently and your reader could stop reading because there’s too much to keep up with.
