BSNL Evdo Wireless broadband service
After Tata and Reliance, it is now Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited which has introduced USB data cards for wireless internet service, and speeds of which can reach to 2.4 MBPS.
It is called as EVDO Card.
There are no registration charges, and activation cost is Rs. 250.
EV-DO Device cost = Rs. 7,500
Right now, the speed of broadband available is 144 kbps and after the CDMA EVDO card is introduced, the speed of 2.4 Mbps can be reached.
Rental cost is Rs. 250 per month.
Still it is not available everywhere, but only in selected cities.
And the download/upload is unlimited.
Here is how the EVDO card looks like -

Thanks for the info. Has anyone tested the speed and seen how it performs. I am not really happy with my Reliance Data card.
Shinil.
Financial Counselors
It should be better than reliance !!!!
I’m browsing with one
And it costs only Rs 3500+taxes, they’ve cut the prices.
If you’re in Kerala, you’re lucky because there’s a lot of EVDO coverage and easy availability of the device (as I got it within a week).
@Shinil I use it outside EVDO coverage, and it gives 70-140 Kbps (fluctuates a lot every second). Forget torrents, though – this baby sucks in it.
The speed of this card is also fairly low, say about 100 kbps but it does offer unlimited download (gr8 for me). However, Bsnl officials believe that the speed will reach 2.4 mbps very soon.
dear sir
am in kerala malapuram district .
i want to know when evdo card will be available in perithalmannatown
how is thE speed for EVDO IN KERALA INITIALLY LAUNCHED.
I went to bsnl office yesterday and USB evdo is launched here.
they say 2mbps speed, rs 550 unlimited browsing.. but want more reviews.
i recently visited bsnl office in hosur, TN. they asked me to give application and would inform when the devices are available. when i called 2 days back, they said device is available and cost of it is 6000/-. how did they increase from 4k to 6k suddenly. i have recently seen one press statement from qualcom that they would offer evdo device for 3.5k. what is the bsnl motive behind this to increase the device cost suddenly.

Really bsnl evdo is good. but it has limited coverge.
Yes. EVDO is ok.
But EVDO’s main Disadvantage is,
Shared IP Address.
You could not use Rapidshare Downloads and other streaming Download sites. So it is sucks..
So I’m waiting for Dynamic IP address in Wireless broadband.
At me such question
I can not change the menu in Windows, it looks on new why that….
Help to adjust… At me of a Window 98
I have been using EVDO for about ten days in Yerawada,Pune. After the initial follow up as with any government office,my netconnection started working. Some other buyers are not as lucky. They keep getting the message “remote computer did not respond” frequently. However,I have a feeling that apart from the strength of the signal and the management of it by the chinese modem,a user’s PC also matters a lot. Many people are not even aware about the virus-infected status of their systems. They should not squarely blame BSNL.if other things are taken care of,EVDO does a fair job compared to a dial-up.I have been getting speeds varying between 60KBPS during morning office hours to about 245KBPS midnight at 3a.m.I am happy because I could not get a broadband from BSNL in the last two years even with follow up, but got EVDO within two days.
plz tell me how to install this device
I would like buy evdo in kanchipuram any suggestion

Hi,
I am from Bokaro in Jharkhand. I am using the NIC card of BSNL giving max speed of 153.6 kbps and yesterday I got EVDO from BSNL. I find the speed not exceeding 275 kbps as against 2400 KBPs declared. The EVDO often stops sending data after 275 kbps and works after I re connect.
May b teething prob but not good as I had thought at broad band speed and it is not like that. Pl advice if any get better speed at someother place? My id is skmahapatro2002@yahoo.com

it is very easy to install EVDO on your PC.Insert the CD given by BSNL and run the Setup.exe file. The system will ask the user to insert the device. Only then, connect your EVDO modem either directly or through the cord provide with the modem into the USB port (one normally used for connecting pendrives). Therafter, keep your eyes closed for some time! There will be some messages saying that there is new hardware-it may not work satisfactorily and so on. IGNORE THEM.Some sound files that were warning you for about a minute will stop and a message will appear that EVDO has been installed.Next, close the tab and go to your desktop. You would find a blue coloured shortcut named ZTE EV DO. Double click on it. It would open a window in which you should click the last but one icon from the bottom (right side) called setting. In that give the username as well as password as ‘cdma’. Check the boxes against “Connect when start up and autoreconnect” and save the settings by clicking the same icon again. Now click the top left corner icon (by the side of antenna symbol). You would be connected to the net. Please see to it that your EV Do screen shows at least two bars indicating signal strength like in a mobile phone. If you don’t see them, try changing the orientation/location of the computer at home.
please give me information about bsnl evdo card my mail laxmikanttekule@yahoo.com

Hi All,
I am from Kerala, Ernakulam. I am using EV-DO for more than 3 months. I have enough EV-DO range at my home and was getting good speed(~150K). I am using another tataindicomm connection also. I just recently noticed one problem with my EV-DO. Even though i have enough signal strength, it could not connect to EV-DO network and always showing message like “Remote computer did not respond”. But if I try for a couple of time, it will connect to the CDMA 1 network. What the heck is wrong?? I can connect my tataindicom and my PC is secured with Kaspersky Antivirus. Can anybody help me??
Thanks
