I am looking to have my site listing on top business directories available with Quality which can pass their quality to our site too …
like a frd of mine recommended me to hv listing on joeant, yahoo, goguides and few more ..
wat do u recommend Chetan ? and can our site get better in serp’s too by getting into this … it should be worth of paying for those

Let me first tell you what i mean from this post -
The directories what am sharing below won’t be one of my favorites, but are those which actually helped my client get some good quality backlinks, and also with the intelligent use of good title and keywords etc. he could improve his SERP positions, with the help of the directory links. I’m not affiliated to the directories which am listing below, so don’t expect any partiality towards a particular directory. Everything will be by a neutral point of view just for the help..

Ok, so coming back to the topics, here are the directories which are worth submitting your website to. The price for listing may be high or less, but if you need results, there is nothing wrong in digging into your pockets.

Dmoz - The directory which i don’t at all like, due to the poor editoral structure. You can’t expect a free link in it these days. Only suggestion, if you know any editor, pay him and get the listing. This is what Dmoz has become famous for lately. But a link here, if you got, is a real added value and helps well.

Yahoo Directory - It is not well known for Google SERP improval, as although you pay $300 per year for the inclusion, you would just end up in some deep pages which gives very less PR and link juice. And as said by their experts - “A listing in the Yahoo! Directory does not guarantee your site will be listed in search results for any particular query.” But being a quality authorative directory, a good and strong unique IP backlink is counted.

Best of the Web - Now lets see from the view of a person who has submitted a number of websites there, what the results are - Check this post, he says -

A BOTW listing is part of a well rounded SEO campaign. I wouldn’t expect to see anything but a small increase in SERPS - but if you’re in the top 20 and trying to move into the top 10, then it would probably be worth it. A listing isn’t going to work miracles - if you don’t have good rankings before, you’re not going to see them after just adding a listing.

So this explains that having a link just here isn’t at all enough for Search engine rankings, but still it helps in some competition.

JoeAnt directory - One Time Fee - US$39.99 - A good and low budget price when compared to other big ones, and one of the most worth submitting directories from my side. One of my sites is listed there and i get considerable amount of traffic from there, and also it has some good link value, with most of its category pages with PR, well indexed and having limited number of links in them. So basically not a type of link farm which is hated by search engines!

Business.com - Doesn’t allow simply any website that is paid to get listed, but is strictly for business websites. Having an alexa ~ 2k, it gets good traffic and i have sometimes read people saying that it sends some good referral traffic. Link value in it is good too. Although the price is not affordable for small business holders to start with at $299, but in future, a listing in it just rises the value.

Those were the top 5 in my mind, but i never forget mentioning about these directories if you are on a big budget and are trying to go for a good exposure with quality directory back links -

And finally, i can’t support or go against my own directory, so here it is - Noble directory which might help you get a backlink and gives some good link value!

Hope that helps!
