Google chrome was released not very long ago, but the developers never stop with anything. There have already been many themes developed for the browser, one of the favorites was mac theme for chrome which i shared earlier, and then there were colors and tweaks for the similar themes.

One of those that caught my eyes was the Firebrick Google Chrome Theme. It is the bright red color which attracted me, and i had to share it here.

The theme is developed by Chromefans and here is how you can install the Google Chrome theme -

  1. Download Firebrick Google Chrome Theme first.
  2. Uncompressed the zip file to your local folder. Each zip file contains two files: the Google Chrome Theme file called “default.dll” and help document called “readme.htm”
  3. Close Google Chrome if you haved launched it.
  4. Replace your original default.dll(I suggest you make a backup of the original first). Here’s the path where you need to replace the file:
    • In Vista: C:/Users/[your user name]/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/Application/[current version]/Themes/
    • In Windows XP: C:/Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Application Data/Google/Chrome/Application[current version]/Themes/
  5. Restart your Google Chrome.

I absolutely love Google Chrome. It is amazing how Google was able to capture over 3% of the browser market overnight. 3% might not seem like a lot, but it is and more so, doing it in just such a short period of time is very impressive.

I had a rocky start with Google Chrome, mainly due to an issue with my own computer. However, once I corrected that issue, I was absolutely amazed with its performance.

Strangely, I am not sure why Google didn’t make Chome more Web 2.0 Friendly. There are a few things that bother me with Chrome. One, is that I have no idea what the PageRank of a site is when I am viewing it. Two, it is very difficult for me to submit content into social networks because I can’t have my favorite toolbars installed.
