Download Google chrome new version update for Windows

Submitted by Chetan on Sunday, 7 September 200815 Comments

While just still checking through everything in Chrome, i went to the about page to read about the talked script which is Firefox 5.0 agent something.. and saw something that was not expected already.
There is a new version awaiting installation. Don’t know what the changes made are but i was asked to update to the new version. (Check the end of the post for my doubt regarding the versions for different computers)

The current version that i was running was 0.2.149.27 and then i started the update with that click on “Update Now” button.

The update took 2 minutes to finish and i had to restart the chrome browser to apply the changes, which actually i did not see(the changes).

And the new version of the browser that i could see is 0.2.149.29 so its confirmed that the browser is updated. Check -

*** The only thing i could not get is that >
My browser updated from 0.2.149.27 to 0.2.149.29
And here, David Naylor is getting something different.

Any reason for different versions to different people Google?

It’s strange, but I don’t see the Update Now button in my version of Google Chrome.

Going to visit the site and download the same.

This version was probably available in just 2 days after initial version. And strange is howcome David is seeing that version? Its the version number of portable edition not the normal edition.

Does this version also have the bug that causes a crash when typing “:%” in the address/search bar?

Ya I found it. When you click the wrench, go to “about google chrome” and you will see at the bottom of the screen that comes up “checking for updates”. It only goes for a second, then tells you if its up to date.

Google Chrome automatically updates to a newer version when one is released. The update process happens silently, whether or not you’re using the browser at the time. If Google Chrome is open at the time of the update, you must close the browser and restart for the new version to launch.

To see if a manual update is available or to check your version number, follow these steps:

    Click the Tools menu .
    Select About Google Chrome.
If there is an update available, an Update button will be available. Click the button and restart the browser to use the latest version.
