Orkut, the social networking site most popular in India and Brazil was being used with a mobile version of the website which had no much features, until Google now released a mobile app for better browsing through orkut and networking with friends.

Orkut mobile app is for S60 mobile phones and has some good features which a regular mobile orkut user might have not seen. Here are a few features to highlight -

• Photo uploading into Orkut albums right from the phone
• Sharing of photos with friends on orkut or with contacts on phone who were not on orkut yet
• Keeping the app running, you can call or SMS any orkut friend
• Just like the Gmail offline, this Orkur app for mobile also has the option for users to read scraps, messages from friends offline
• Write scraps, status updating and finding users through search etc.
• Viewing and accepting friend requests

There are apps for iPhone and some other smartphones for Facebook already and the regular mobile version of Facebook was a lot better than the same with Orkut, but the app might bring some better user interface for orkut users.
