Free icon creator and editor software – IcoFX
IcoFX is a free icon generator, editor and creator that is designed to work with Windows XP, vista and Mac OS. This software supports transparency of images during the creation part. This is the easiest way to convert any image to a small icon, and a small icon into an image without any disturbance to the frequency and distribution of pixels, so the clarity of the image is preserved.
As it works for both Windows and Mac OS, icons from Macintosh can be converted to Vista and vice versa. And icon creation is possible in any OS. There are more than 40 effects using which you can get the best from the icons.
You can create an overview of the icons, for which there is an option of capturing snapshots. The images from extensions like jpg, bmp, gif can be extracted along with their transparency which can be reduced or increased to make any changes.
Some other options -
- Built in resource editor for creating icon libraries or changing icons inside exe files
- Zoom icons up to 10000% for increased precision
- Import image dialog, for creating icons from images
- Many useful drawing tools like brush, line, rectangle and more
- Transparent, Brighten/Darken, Blur/Sharpen tools for retouching
- Create icon from an image with a single click
- Adjust the contrast, brightness, hue, saturation, transparency and color balance of icons
- Change the dimension of images

Thank you, I already downloaded
I’m sorry, but there is no Mac OSX version for this, as it’s just for Windows. It just supports OSX Icons. See:
System Requirements
* Microsoft Windows (R) 2000/XP/Vista
* Pentium (R) or AMD Athlon – 600 Mhz or more
* True Color Video Card
* 128 Mb RAM
* 50 MB HDD
I’ll give it a try! Thanks for the information! I just downloaded it!
hey that’s neat. I just went and downloaded it. I need a icon for most all my sites. I have really been lacking in that area. Hopefully I’ll get to play with it this weekend.
Its time for me to change my favicon, and i think this will be the tool i should try it out. Thanks Chetan.
Where is the flippin’ download link??
Is it OS X compatible? The Google link suggested it was but earlier posts say otherwise…
helen, it is not OS X compatible. Sorry for the mistake, as it accepts only the OS X icons and can not be installed for mac.
