Google 2009 Predictions from Google team
Starting off the post with a shock, Google Search Engine market share might come down significantly! This is what Google itself predicts giving a higher value to Live Search.
And Google is trying to concentrate much more on its new kids, Google chrome and Android mobile phones which would be developed more in the coming year.
And back to the topic, here are a few predictions from the Google’s point of view -
- 10% market share to Google chrome, which is near 1% right now, but the popularity is not less already.
- Market share of Google search engine to go down due to rising popularity of Live Search.
- Google is planning to launch a mobile browser which will be there for all the mobile phones, including Android and non-android mobiles.
- The Q&A section in Google help forums would be a part of Google Apps.
- Some of the features that are available only to Google Chrome would be made available for all other browsers.
- Personalized search ads for users that are logged in.
- *** OneGoogle – A new interface that merges all Google applications so you can quickly switch between Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs without opening a new tab or losing your work.
- Google maps to go more quick indexing, with most recent custom maps, reviews and will include a tab for Google earth within.
- Marissa Mayer, and a few other high-profile Google employees are going to leave Google.
- Google contacts might become a separate application, with some advanced options to synchronize data.
So some good and some shocking changes are expected, by Google itself. Whatever, but still the monopoly of Google is not going to run long as i Expect, and it was not one of the most trusted companies in U.S. this time.
What do you expect from Google next year?
Note: These all were predictions from the Google Operating System Unofficial Blog which can be found here.

Google themselves thinking their search engine would go down is bad
, but again the set targets for chrome’s market share is good!
These targets are not from Google themselves, this article is very misleading. These predictions were taken from an unofficial blog about google: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/12/predictions-for-googles-2009.html
I think they are going to buy yahoo, apple and microsoft too
I find it hard to believe that google would be predicting losses for it itself. With the current economic condiotns around the wrold I would imagaine they would be building themselves up
By live search do you mean live.com is Microsoft really getting more traffic? Google is so much better then live.com they must mean something else
With Firefox becoming cumbersome with all my installed plugins and toys, Chrome seems like a lightweight browser to use when I don’t necessarily need to check SEO parameters and other things on every casual site I browse. Watch Chrome, it is bound to garner quite a few fans….
