Google Knol Open, Not for everyone yet!

Submitted by Chetan on Sunday, 27 July 20084 Comments

Google knol which was being expected since a past few months, is finally opened and is still in the Beta stage, and works only for the people from US. So the good people who have knowledge and can write about something, are not eligible to write? Then what’s the use of it being open only for a particular place?

And being that, in what way is it going to be the big Wikipedia competitor?
The whole world is still able to create pages(or so called Knols), but the main problem is that to get our article published on the web, we have to get our name verified, and in the name verification form, only the U.S. people are allowed, no one else.

Hope the Knol system gets opened for general, than a particular place and most of the Knols for my favorite topics are not finished and written by others!

The name verification process has 2 options -
Phone number verification
Credit card verification

But both of them have only United States as the country. Not fair!

heard about Knol about 2 months ago, never expected Google to limit the account to certain countries. Let’s hope it’ll be open for everyone soon
