Google Pagerank Update April 2008

May 1st, 2008 | View Comments

I saw this topic popped up in various blogs and forums, since the past couple of days. Google has gone an update in pagerank of websites. And am actually happy with this update, atleast for this blog.
As i have not just tried to build backlinks by buying them etc. but just always tried to update it regularly and add more and more content to it.google logo

My blog has been granted a PR3 and am quite happy with it. Atleast for now, i would be happy sharing the link love with my top commentators. A few inner posts also got some PR from google. Anyways i always keep in mind that pagerank is not very important. Just try to get more traffic from google, whether the website has pagerank or not. I have seen that blogs have got good love from google lately, both in SERPs and also now PageRank.
John chow got his PR4 back, and ShoeMoney got a PR6, ZacJohnson got a PR5, Balkhis got a PR3 like mine, but i didn’t see much change in my other website’s PR except this blog. Digitalpoint forums, which had got PR6 from PR7 in the last update, again climbed up to PR7 and deserves it!

My Noble Directory remained PR2, Dental blog remained PR4, Travel Blog remained PR2 and few others are the same.

How did PR update go for you?

  7. Jay Says:

    Hey, congrats on the PR3!

But honestly, I still feel PR doesn’t really mean much and definitely doesn’t have the same meaning it once did. I mean, my main blogs are PR4′s and one of my blogs that I haven’t updated since December 30th, 2007 went from a PR1 to PR3 and it barely has any backlinks. So, that tells you something, doesn’t it?

    Just my two cents…

  8. Chetan Says:

That’s why i said in my post, that PR is not a great factor to judge website’s quality :)

  9. Phil Benwell Says:

    PR didn’t move for me.

Find it strange. Had a site I only set up in Feb, left it alone and it gained PR1. Where as my blog has lots of back links, regular content but had stayed PR0.

Hoping for a move next time round.

  11. Nishu Says:

PR neither determine SEPR nor importance of page .. It is just a matter of ego for some people and a matter of fooling other by showing it as a big criteria for advertising .. and Google’s way to keep web developers on the toes

I am not sure. On IWEBTOOLS its showing zero (as it was earlier, for 4 months old blog) but all other online tools showing it 2. If it is 2 then its amazing , but not sure. Ill check with some reliable tool.

  14. Life is Colourful Says:

David, is it that Google did not offer you PR second time? That would be something interesting to analyze.

  17. ashish Says:

Yes I have confirmed it. I have got pr 2 from pr0. And can you believe I havnt got enough backlinks, just good amount of pages and content on my blog.

    It feels great.

mine is still zero. huhuhu… how can i increase my PR??

  19. ashish Says:

@shannon : Try social bookmarking sites, comment on blogs and if possible exchange links with other bloggers with some PR. One good method of getting noticed is paid review of your blog on other blog.

  20. Diseñador Says:

I do not know if Google updates the pagerank, but I already has over 1 years with a PR4, every time Google does not put it more difficult to attract visitors to our site, Google wants all the web traffic for them, is not just be left to compete and I am trying to get by with Google Adsense.Pero really earn a pittance if you have it 5 to attract more visitors.

    Greetings.
