Google reports every search result as Malware

google logoUpdate: Everything seems to be back to normal, just after an hour of the issue reported. Google is quick. And here is their update on the issue.

“This site may harm your computer” – This is seen on every search result for every search in Google. Google is flagging every site as a harmful one, a major bug in the search engine.

Why are all worried about this?
Most of us already understood that this is a temporary bug, but still the traffic to all the sites from Google has suddenly stopped. As Google does not allow people to visit the website, saying that its harmful.
Once a person clicks on the result link, they would be taken to a page with big warning -

Warning – visiting this web site may harm your computer!
Or you can continue to http://www.picnik.com/ at your own risk. For detailed information about the problems we found, visit Google’s Safe Browsing diagnostic page for this site.

google error

For someone not sure about this, would just leave the page and forget about the search. There is where the traffic is being lost right now.
Google, act fast about this. And fire that one who is responsible for all this.

I choked on my coffee when I didn’t my first couple searches this morning……couldn’t believe it.

Even if this occurs for a short period of time (hopefully), I can’t even imagine how much $$ Google is losing off their ad revenue with the decrease in Google traffic.

Ahh..Glad everything is back to normal… At first I thought it’s some malware in my own computer. LOL

  3. Anand says:

Nice that everything is fine now. It was a big loss for Google and bloggers/publishers if the traffic was not being correctly forwarded to the resulting sites. But as its done quickly, its good.

It seems i missed this one but nice to see it fixed now.

  5. That was quite a little glitch in the Google Matrix, wasn’t it! The glitch occurred between 9:30am EST and 10.25am EST on Saturday and Google blamed human error…Google routinely flags any search results if the site is known to install malicious software. On Saturday Google mistakenly applied one of its periodic list updates in such a way that the warning would apply to all URLs…heheheheh….smacks of cyber terrorism to me!

  6. Mark Wilson says:

Google must have lost out on a colossal amount of ad revenue in that short bit of time. It’s crazy for such a huge internet giant to have such a major glitch.
