One more interesting fact about Google, the best search engine, is the Sitelinks feature. This has been in discussion in many webmaster places and this feature is loved by people having it for thier sites. Here is my explanation about this to the newbies -
What are sitelinks?
These are sublinks shown below some website results after the 1st result only in the first page of the search results of certain keywords. This is otherwise called the search love given by Google to the websites and the sitelinks are generated from the websites’ content. This feature helps users to navigate your site. And you deserve the sitelinks only if you have something unique and original, having people enjoying it and like it.
How many sitelinks does google show?
It depends on the user-friendliness of your website pages and also the number of views which generates the sitelinks. As sitelink generation is automated, the number is not always fixed. It can vary from 4-8 links, as i see for various web searches in Google.
How are sitelinks for particular site selected and arranged?
Sitelinks are generally automated so according to google system blog, Google ranks the sitelinks in order with the traffic to the specific pages. According to Google,
Sitelinks are meant to help users navigate your site. Our systems analyze the link structure of your site to find shortcuts that will save users time and allow them to quickly find the information they’re looking for.
I don’t like a sitelink of my site. What to do?
Don’t worry, the webmasters whose sites are given the sitelinks for the search results, can now decide whether to keep or remove any sitelink that is present in the results page. To view and manage your sitelinks, go to the Webmaster Tools Dashboard and click the site you want. In the left menu click Links, then click Sitelinks.

Thats another reason why google is making sitelinks useless similar to PR. Everysite with quite decent age and backlinks is showing up with sitelinks.
