Google Toolbar for Chrome Browser

Digg this!

Chrome, Chrome and Chrome!
The whole web(including me) is talking about this new browser from Google. It has some amazing new features which were not already there in the presently dominating web browsers like Firefox, Opera and many other.

Features included Separate Tabbed browsing, Task manager, and many others which were impressive!
Google had already done much of the best work with this accidental release of the browser for Windows but not for mac right now.

But while all this going on and running well, did most or any of you notice that the Google Toolbar is not there in the browser. It is seen in Safari, Firefox as a default one and Google itself not placing it in its browser?

This is something they really forgot or are they trying to do something else about it?
If the absence of Google toolbar remains the same for a considerable amount of time, the people who are using Chrome and still love some other search engines than Google, they will hit that in the address bar rather than going for Google.
This would certainly make Google lose lot of searches/direct browser traffic!

Seems to be hilarious, and weird too.. that how could Google not place their toolbar in their browser?

Btw i know the address bar is useful for search, but still a Google toolbar like a searchstatus thing for firefox would be a cool addition when Chrome comes out of the beta stage.

I don’t think they’ll leave it like this for long !

  • Carl says:

The search bar IS the google bar, give it a shot. Type anything that isn’t a URL in there and it will automatically search google for it.

  • Creeva says:

The misunderstanding with this is the address is the google search bar – just type in a term and hit enter – it will then search google.

The problem lies without having the search bar to other engines such as wikipedia and IMDB which I use very often.

Google didn’t hide their own search bar – they just took it over.

Ironically my biggest issues is that new tab and new page are swapped in chrome and firefox – so most the time I’m attempting to open something in a new tab, but I open it in a new page.

  • Simon says:

Theres no need for Google toolbar in Chrome, you can search Google directly from the address bar. Also, you can define the default search in options.

  • anon says:

Additionally, you have the choice in the options menu to
    change the default search engine.

  • Marketing says:

I was actually asking myself the same question this morning right after downloading and installing it. I have to give great applause to the page load speed though, it’s like a turbo charged browser.

  • Jim Gaudet says:

You can search other search engines from the address bar, even without changing Google as your default. First visit yahoo.com or live.com and once you have been there one time, you can now search them from the address bar. Just click in the address bar, type “Y” for yahoo highlight yahoo hit tab on the keyboard and you will be prompted asking you if you want to search yahoo. works the same for other search engines and web pages.

Dude… you don’t seem to make sense..! First of all, have you read whats on the page of Google Chrome?

    “Google Chrome (BETA) for Windows”

BETA – The beta version of a software release is considered to be a preview. During this point, the company will collect feedback from users about the product’s usability — what they like and what should be changed — before the product’s wide release.

Google is testing Chrome as experimental release and this is NOT their final release. The newer releases will have Toolbars (as an additional plug-in) and other add-ons as how Firefox has it now. Google main point with Chrome was to deliver a browser which can render pages faster, a browser that is safer and easier to use.

“Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.”

Faster – Safer – Easier = Main Idea behind Chrome. Its the same as how Google Talk evolved… when Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger were dominating the users.. Google released something relatively so simple, clean and faster (with less RAM usage). Soon GTalk started to dominate.. and frequently Google adds new features and also has to preview version (Google Talk Labs Edition).

The aim of Google is simple – Easy, Fast & Secure. from its Search Engine till Chrome it has maintained and it will. The reason Firefox takes tons of RAM usage is because of plenty of add-ons and third party plugins.

Google Toolbar is a revolutionary product from Google, I bet it will be added in future release or probably an extra-add on for users to add. It won’t stick to browser as default feature.. as you – me will be happy with .. think about other users. So no point in talking about its features and Toolbar so early!

Before you talk or discuss about something.. make sure you learn something about the product and do some initial research..!! Google Help section at Google Chrome page will answer most of your question.. it would have been better for you to browser through their help pages atleast!

I really wonder how this post got so many Diggs (!!). Good topic to discuss… but no detailed analysis..!!

Next time.. I would expect you to come up with a post that has more insights on what you tend to discuss!

    Cheers!

  • NOUFAL says:

YES IT MAY BE THE TESTING TIME, BUT IT HAS’T THE TOOLBAR. ADDRESS BAR IS NOT A DOING A SEARCH RESULT. IT WILL DISPLAY ONLY THE MOST RATED WEB SITES . THE TOOLBAR IS ALSO DOING SOME FEATURES LIKE BOOKMARK, GMAIL, TRANSLATION ETC.., THAT ARE NOT AVAIL NOW WITH CROME. MY MOST OF THE WEBSITES ARE BOOKMARKED WITH GOOGLE. NOW I CANT DIRECTLY USE IT WITH CROME. WAIT FOR SOME DAYS TO RELEASE FINAL VERSION THAT GIVE THE FULL FEATURES.

  • qatarvisitor says:

I have had no problems searching from the address bar. Also, if you visit google bookmarks you can drag the bookmark icon to below the tabs. Then click the icon to go to search bookmarks. Click show all bookmarks and your book marks will appear as a page.

  • Maqsood says:

I can’t believe this google forget to add google toolbar in CHROME!!! I believe google must include this with CHROME when its stable or they must come up with new technology in order to make it faster for browser.

  • temu says:

I didnot use Opera because there is no google toolbar, t is not about search engine it is about some cool features like spell check, auto fill, auto link, etc etc, which are very hhelpful, I may not use chrome anymore unless they make google toolbar

  • capt_ron says:

The only thing I miss is auto-fill, I love that thing. But I’m sure it’s coming to a Google Chrome near me soon.

  • pedro says:

There is no need to have a google bar in google chrome!
In google chrome, the adress bar fucntions as the google bar. Try it and see, anything you look up in the adress bar displays the full page exactly as if it had been written in google bar.

  • Dunc says:

Chrome ‘address’ bar does seem to have integrated some search elements like images etc, but I use the spell checker on the google toolbar all the time as well as the Gmail link button and the highlight feature. Also the ‘goto searched words and phases’ buttons (not sure of the actual name for this feature) are an absolute god send.

What I am saying is, for all of you saying you don’t need the google toolbar, I think you shoud go back to it and see what it can actually do, then, you will probably miss it. For the time being I will stick with firefox, which is a shame because the task manager feature of chrome is a great idea, especially on an old machine like the one I am using now. Heavy websites screw me big time.

  • TMar says:

I think some of you are missing the point. It’s not the search bar that people are missing of the other features of Google’s toolbar.

  • hugo says:

I frequently highlight portions of an article / using “Edit” from the Toolbar to copy and paste to Notepad for
    my own style of Bookmarking/
UNLESS YOU CORRECT THIS I FIND “CHROME” USELESS ! SORRY!

  • summer says:

Hey, I am really, really pi$$ed that i dont have a google toolbar for chrome, i mean, i love the program as my IE is buggy ie. not responding messages galore where as chrome has been a breath of fresh air. i have to bookmark back in IE at the moment so operating two windows let alone going back to use IE is really painful :(

  • k says:

I think there’s no toolbar because it is BETA yet!!!

  • Bo says:

It’s strange they left the toolbar out. I would like to see the pagerank inside the browser. Hope this will get an alternative real soon.

  • Sherry says:

yeah they left the tool bar out. I am so not used to it.

  • BM says:

Yup, I hate it, the toolbar is missing.

  • BM says:

But I must say it’s so fast huh.

  • BM says:

The lay-out is so clean, very Google.

  • BM says:

But because it’s in beta, we should wait for it in the future.

  • BM says:

    @Sherry: I’m not a toolbar lover myself.

  • BM says:

@Bo: they should allow add-ons too like that on FF

  • BM says:

@k: Google is always in BETA.

  • BM says:

    @summer: then use FireFox.

  • BM says:

@hugo: that’s odd. NotePad is so old school.

  • BM says:

@pedro: I tried this, and it works.

  • Pax says:

Alot of user who commented don’t have a clue as to what a Google toolbar is. This in itself (if Google reads this) should tell them that they need to advertise their toolbar better.

Anyway, I completely agree with the post. I realize the browser is in beta but Google should know by now that anything they do will have an immediate impact. Their GoogleTalk app was the talk of the town not long ago and they didn’t move it forward quickly enough and hardly anyone bothers with it.

Google wants a piece of the cloud via their browser? I can’t imagine why they didn’t make accessing their terrific services easier. Until they make their services accessible via their OWN browser, they should refrain from drawing analogies to anything cloud-based.

After all, that’s what this browser is all about…

  • Sultan says:

I like Chrome very much, but without auto fill, check spelling I might go back to Firefox.

  • tmlclone says:

com’on took 2 yrs to make a toolbars that works for Chrome…..
    targeting google share @150

  • sagy says:

@Carl: no da. type anything and it gives “windows search” results for it not google results

  • Been says:

CTRL+F is a poor replacement for the highlight search feature in the toolbar, plus I hate hitting CTRL+F… hate it so much, that I stopped using Chrome last month. I just want to click on a little highlight button or on individual words from my search thread. Come on Google, if you want to reap the rewards of beta viral, you can’t drag your feet on the features so many of us have become reliant on. Wait much longer and it will die on the vine like Okurt.

  • Scope says:

Well I like the product, but I do miss the spell correcter on Chrome, I use it all the time, they have something like it but it does not come even close to the same quality as spell check on the G toolbar

  • Indian says:

Really amazing, they couldn’t just have forgotten adding the toolbar. Even the new version of chrome does not have it yet.

  • Mira says:

It’s taking a long time, really!
I’m still looking for google toolbar for chrome, but I might go back to my firefox soon.
Something else weird about google team, is that they didn’t add the word “google” into the dictionary associated with their chrome that I am using right now and still putting a red line under GOOGLE

  • Toretto says:

I see that everyone’s trying to “defend” google by saying that there’s no need for a search bar, but to me the Toolbar has other uses. Easy navigation to any Google service – I click, and bam! I’m there, already signed in / logged in – and the Bookmarks option; allowing me to use the same bookmarks everywhere (except on Chrome, apparently). I’d love to see the toolbar come to Chrome as well.

  • S says:

Love the speed of Chrome, miss the toolbar. I like the feature that I can just get on my PC and click on the frames of my favorites and get my computing done for the moment. Also with my old PC, runs MUCH cooler and don’t have to do a disk cleanup so often.

  • Johnski says:

I love the speed and the clean feel of Chrome. But like many I find the lack of toolbar a handicap. The search feature through the address line is fine as it goes but I use the toolbar for quick searches within sites. I still use IE7 for that type of stuff

  • Val says:

As of today, Chrome is no longer BETA, it is v.2.0.172.37 – and STILL NO GOOGLE TOOLBAR! So, the lack of Google Toolbar for Chrome cannot be Google’s omission, it is obviously Google’s business decision!

And this is the kind of decision I cannot understand at all. In Chrome, I do not have access to my bookmarks stored in Google Toolbar and I cannot search my bookmarks. That thing alone makes me abandon Chrome in favour of a browser that supports Google Toolbar. Also, AutoFill – one of the most useful features of Google Toolbar – is missing in Chrome!

Google folks: why do you prevent us from accessing bookmarks stored at Google from Chrome? Does this make any sense at all?

  • Hey u SUCK!!! Why do you need a google toolbar or ANY TOOLBAR in google ……ITS BEST AS IT IS !!!

    GOOGLE CHROME ROCKS!!
