Firefox, from Mozilla foundation has been one of the best web browsers from quite a good time and is a lot better than internet explorer. I just thought to search and find things about and related to its cool looking logo. And here is what all i could tell you about it.

There were 2 stories sighted out about the history of this logo actually.

1. In October 2003, professional interface designer, Steven Garrity presented an article in which he tried to mention things that were not upto the marks of Mozilla’s visual identity. Later Garrity was invited by the Mozilla Foundation to head up the new visual identity team. New branding efforts were seen when the 0.8 version of firefox was released in February 2008. So, the animal featured in the logo was a fox, instead of a Red panda, which is the meaning of firefox actually.

2. Recently, an article featured in Wired showed that photographs in space taken by the Hubble Space telescope showed something really similar to the logo which firefox is using. December 17, 2002 was the date when the photographs were taken. An entry page in Wikipedia about V838 Monocerotis showed the same star again of the same structure.

Now its really confusing and hard to say which might be the original story behind the logo. But anyways, the logo just rocks :)
