Hunch – The decision maker launches

hunchHunch, a site which was in private invite beta since quite some time just came out of it and is launched officially. It is a decision making website, that helps you make decisions by asking questions related to what you are not unable to decide easily.

Like, when you want to buy a phone and not sure which is the right one at that time for your need, Hunch helps you out. Here is an example for deciding between iPhone and Palm Pre. Hunch asked me all these questions -

  • Preference to Physical keyboard
  • Do you prefer a 3.5 inch screen or a 3.1 inch screen?
  • Who is your current wireless service provider?
  • Do you already own one or more Apple products?
  • Do you want to use your phone for handheld 3D gaming like the Nintendo DS?
  • Do you want to be able to remove and replace the phone’s battery yourself?
  • Do you want to listen to music or watch videos on your phone?
  • Do you hate being interrupted on your phone while you’re using it?
  • Do you have long nails that would impair your being able to use the touchscreen effectively?

These could easily read one’s need. And for users who already had an account in Hunch, would see a few newer things like code for placing widgets in their blogs for the results to their questions. This code can help in embedding the topic within a post in the blogs.

I always went through the present plays like iPhone vs Pre and some other mac related ones, but did not do anything new in it.

  3. One more advantage that I find from Hunch is that while I try to post a comparison between any two products, the questions given in Hunch for the same, help me a lot in making the topic more interesting and a few more comparison points are added to the list.
