How to increase iPod Nano 4G Battery life
I own an Apple iPod Nano 4G and had lately seen a lot of battery draining problems with it, when i just watch a single movie most of the battery is already finished and the red mark indicates battery lower than 20%. And no would be happy when you need to charge the iPod everyday, especially when you are travelling.
Finally i found a few ways which can Calibrate the battery or increase the battery life of iPod 4G -
Backlight – The backlight is one of the main reasons for the draining of battery in the iPod. So changing the tracks frequently, or keeping the iPod backlight active for long can drain the battery, and also make the usage time of battery higher, reducing its life.
Brightness of light – Go to Settings > General > Brightness and reduce it when you are not watching a movie. This won’t strain your eyes too when you are just working with changing of tracks etc.
Activate energy saver – There is an energy saver option in the iPod 4G which by itself tries to save the battery when you are not actively using it. Go to Settings > Playback > Energy Saver and turn it On.
Backlight on for less time – When you change songs while listening, its better if the backlight is On for less time when you already changed the song. It should be just for changing the songs and then battery should be tried to saved more. Go to Settings > General > Backlight and then set it to 5 seconds or just 2 seconds if you are very much worried about the battery.
Don’t charge when not needed – Some people are greedy. They keep charging the iPod when just 20% of battery is used. Its better to charge the iPod 4G only when there is very low battery and sometimes when its totally exhausted.
Charge till its full – While charging the iPod battery, make sure its totally charged to 100% and sometimes you can charge for more time after its full too, that won’t hurt the battery. Stopping the charge when its still not full would make the battery life worse and also drain faster.
Don’t change tracks frequently – No one can stop you from doing this, unless you have some good tracks to hear without changing them. Its always nice if you keep the iPod light off by not touching it and just keep listening to what’s being played.
Accelerometer drains it out – Try to reduce the usage of the accelerometer and also play games less(yes i know they are addictive, but still) and try to maintain same sound range, without always changing it. Accelerometer drains battery easily.
Keep updating – Keep connecting your iPod to iTunes and see if there is any new software released from Apple for the iPod. If its available, update it ASAP.
There might be many other ways to control the battery life, but these are what i use and now i can see around 15 hours of non-stop playback of songs without any stoppage, until the whole battery charge completes. You can share any of your tips with us, if you know!

This is wrong, Lithium ion batteries should be recharged often, not drained completely.
