So many smartphones and amazing gadgets releasing at the same time would amaze anyone, and confuse them at the same rate too. Becuase one who decides to buy a good phone would stuck up with selection, unable to decide which would be the best phone for them to buy.

The 3 major phones that are on the go right now, are – Apple iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre and the HTC Magic!

No, you can’t just easily decide between them becuase one beats the other in various features that it has. All the 3 mobiles are powered with different OS, and are from different brands.
Apple improved the iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS, Palm integrated a very new OS into Palm Pre, and Google’s android OS comes into the amazing sleek looking phone from HTC, the HTC Magic.

I thought to compare them starting with the Hardware features -
Touchscreen is available in all the 3 phones. But iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre have the Multitouch features while HTC Magic lacks multitouch. (HTC magic loses)
External keyboard is available only with Palm Pre while iPhone 3GS and HTC magic rely just on touchscreen. (Palm Pre wins)
Internal memory is in excess for iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre but HTC Magic has just 512 MB internal memory and that can be expanded with extra storage card. (HTC magic loses)
Camera – Nearly same for all, with good picture quality with 3-megapixel camera. But Palm Pre has the flash for capturing pics during night or any dark environment (Palm Pre wins)
Video Recording – Although the great camera features with flash, the Palm Pre does not allow Video recording unlike the other two competitors (Palm Pre loses)
Headphone Jack – HTC magic coming without a headphone jack! (HTC magic loses)
GPS, Bluetooth and other connectivity options are very well handled and supported by all the devices.
Accelerated 3D gaming is not an option to be seen with Palm Pre (Palm pre loses)

Talking about the Software of the phones -
There is availability of Background apps with Palm Pre and HTC Magic but iPhone 3GS does not support it (iPhone 3GS loses)
iPhone 3GS recently got the feature of Cut/Copy/Paste which is there with all phones now.
Tethering is possible only with iPhone 3GS but not with the other two (iPhone 3GS wins)
Apps for all the phones are available from their respective app stores or markets, but 3rd party apps without the involvement of the app stores are not available for usage.

Seeing all of the above features and comparisons, one would still see iPhone 3GS being on the better side as Palm Pre has still got into the arena with its new OS and Android based phone G1 was not so famous, so HTC Magic would not be into too much expectations.
