KillerStartups acquires Startups.com domain name

killerstartups logoKillerStartups.com, a big startups blog where the best start ups for some websites are provided, has acquired a better name which is similar but shorter to what they are presently. They have acquired the name Startups.com, which is going to be their network standard name, but Killerstartups would stay as it is, still providing the Killer Startups.

The domain was acquired for a sum of $500,000 which is said to be a good deal according to techcrunch, as they expect this going to be a nice hit like Business.com which was sold for $350 million once. The company will have the name Startups.com Network as the standard name, but the present blogs will remain the same, and the network would be built with more startups related websites to be added in it.

That would have been a bad decision if Killerstartups.com was changed completely to Startups.com, but the network being named with the new domain is a good one, and Killerstartups already being a well known blog, has some potential to give a good boost to the network already.
According to sources, it gets around 1.5 Millions visitors a month.

  4. Nice! And someone was having a very good dinner that night… ($500,000) It’s time to vacation. A least for a lil while. lol. Ok, you can still blog.

  5. Insurance says:

What?!? $500,000 is a “good deal” for the domain?

  6. That domain was priced very high, at the $500,000 figure. When you compare it with the Business.com which went for the $350,000 tag is very undervalued when compared to that high class Business.com domain.
And since the acquiring, there is no much news about Startups.com domain and the site, so what was the use of the domain sale?
