LinkedIn, the business networking website has launched a new feature, the applications platform which has some good applications which users can add to their profiles and add more interaction and look of their profile, helping to make communication more easier and the profile look becoming more professional.

The nine applications that you see live today on LinkedIn include productivity enhancing applications from Amazon, Box.net, Google, Huddle, Six Apart, SlideShare, Tripit, and WordPress as well a Company Buzz application developed by LinkedIn. Each of these applications will help you stay current and competitive as a professional in today’s rapidly changing business world.

Check the video for the launch notes from the owner -

I just added wordpress, Slideshare, box.net to test out them, and can explain wordpress pretty easily.
The latest blog posts of yours through feeds would be displayed in your profile if you set it right. And this is what the company says about the platform -

LinkedIn Applications enable you to enrich your profile, share and collaborate with your network, and get the key insights that help you be more effective. Applications are added to your homepage and profile enabling you to control who gets access to what information.

As this platform is yet in beta stage, i see there are a limited number of applications, whose installation is similar to some facebook app installation. We would soon see many more apps coming in.
