Make money online by writing content

Writing content does not only include posting in forums, or writing articles for clients. Once think, a client invests for your articles because he is expecting some higher profits from those when he uses them in his website. Why not write for yourself and make the profit?
They say “Slow and steady wins the race”, it isn’t at all wrong! You think of making instant money and that’s why self content writing does not help you. Keep filling your website with the content, and in future the same would be treasure for you. Don’t ever expect instant money in your website by just adding static articles and expecting search engines to crawl them and place you well.

These are a few ways which you might see your content useful -

dollar moneyWriting for clients – This can be forum posting or article writing. Forum posting pays are not satisfactory for most of the people, but still for anyone who is just nothing on the web and wants to see themselves making some money, that’s more than enough for them. People are paid $0.05 to $0.25 for posting a thread or replying to it in their forums, can be of any niche. The price they pay also depends on how much time you are dedicating to work there, how many words each post contains on an average and some other factors. I already had told you all on how to make money by forum posting, so that might be helpful for you in searching for places where you can start your freelancing by posting in forums.

The next being static articles for clients, i have a thing to say for all writers – “You are a good article writer if you maintain the same best quality always, and not alter it with the rates fixed.” Now i can’t comment on the money you get by this, because there is a huge variation in various freelance websites. And i have seen writers making hundreds of dollars a month by this method, but am going to explain how you can make more money by not following this way and just changing the taker of the article.

Writing for yourself – This was what i was referring to just a line above. Taker of the article here is not your client, but it is “you” who is writing the article and accepting it for yourself. You have no limits on quantity, no limitation of a niche or anything. The only thing is that you won’t be getting paid for all this instantly. You just add all the content to your own websites and optimize, monetize and sit idle slowly building links for it! The site slowly shows growth in traffic, and then earnings through ads and advertisers.

Writing viral content, is one of the other ways of getting good promotion for your website. Viral content, in my view is something that gets spread in most of the best parts of the web as people just like the content you write and they link to your article pages etc. This is the main part of viral marketing for a website.
Hope these points get into your mind if u are a content writer.

I really liked this post and it has re-enforced some of the decisions I have made on my own. I had to start writing my own content that would bring readers to my site, support my own advertisers and friends, and also my own talents. It is slowly starting to pay off, too. Today I had my first email regarding my template design, which is original, but I have not been overtly promoting.

I had to start doing these things on my own because my blog was rejected from every pay-to-post network (it is supposedly not family friendly enough – it is probably because of the half nude art-work). My blog is tasteful and full of interesting content, but for the most part it is light and fun.

Anyhow, great posts – keep up the good tips!

    Good tips there.
I have worked since months on writing content and seriously, i never have had a single website under my name. I write for clients, get paid for writing articles, get paid for forum posting, blogging in other blogs etc. but i have never invested for a site of my own.

Your thoughts make me think about it and i should now seriously start working on a website of my own, knowing that i have enough talent of writing thousands of words a day. I always thought writing for clients is easier and more beneficial.

Well writing can be a source of income, but then opportunities these days are decreasing in number. A lot of people offer $0.01/word and I just can’t live with that. I mean, if a 500-word quality article will only be worth $5 then I’d rather not write for cash.

  • Kai Lo says:

Content doesn’t mean much if it is not marketed properly. Before you worry so much about what to write and who to write it for, think about how you are going to market it (social networking, improving SEO, etc.). Never think about the money because if you don’t make as much as you expected yourself to make, you won’t be as motivated to continue.
