Matt Mullenweg and Wordcamp India

Matt Mullenweg, the guy behind one of the most successful platform for bloggers, WordPress, had recently come to India for the first ever Wordcamp that was held in Adobe India office at Noida, U.P., India.

He is a pretty good person and joyous all the time, and the way he interacts with people make them think that he knows them already and met with them before. Nods his head all the time when someone is being introduced with him, or someone speaks to him about something.

Many would not agree, but the fact is that people came to wordcamp to talk to Matt, or at least see him. I accept that meeting Matt was the reason for me to attend Wordcamp. Meeting great people and taking inspiration from them is one of the steps to build something within yourself, and that i can call as my achievement. ;)

For people reading this and don’t actually know who Matt Mullenweg is, here is in short -
Matt is the co-founder of WordPress blogging platform and owns Automattic network. WordPress is one of the best and most popular blogging platforms at present. He was first blogging through b2 platform and dreamed of cracking and playing with it to build a better platform that can drag more people into blogging.
At that time, Mike Little commented and mailed him saying that he would be helping Matt in developing it. And so, WordPress was born.
And then Matt formed Automattic which includes WordPress, Intense Debate commenting system and Gravatar etc.

Becoming one of the 25 most influential people on the web is nothing small, and meeting, listening to them really gives us something apart from just happiness.
On the 1st day of Wordcamp i got a chance of introducing myself to him and shake hands, and of course, to be captured in a pic.
He took a session on WordPress and its future version 2.8 and the features one can expect in it. Buddypress integration is of the features Matt is wondering about, along with boosting up of the speed of interface, ability to upload and install themes within the admin panel etc.

He was pretty happy with people in the camp, as everyone were very active and interactive. When he asks something to everyone, they used to answer and raise voices in chorus. He said “You guys are pretty hip.. When i was in a camp in Germany, people there used to just keep silent, and you all are good. *Smiles*”

That was it for Day 1 and i had left in the afternoon at Day 2, so could not attend the WordPress.tv session which he gave at the near end of Day 2 of Wordcamp. But that was enough for me already.
Learn about him and read his blog at ma.tt, and contact him through email m@mullenweg.com for any queries! He usually replies to every personal mail, so try to make it good when you try to contact him!
