Google just announced the new Image ads for mobile, similar to what they serve for desktop websites. Mobile image ads are a new format of AdWords ads that can appear on mobile websites. People would be taken directly to the mobile webpages if they click on the ad.
These are exactly similar to the normal image ads, the only difference being the sizes as these run on mobile content network.
Google is expecting this ad format to be a big hit, as it would help companies for branding and click-through rate would also be good, serving a single ad per page.
Here are the ad formats which are going to be available for mobiles -
- 305 x 64
- 215 x 34
- 192 x 35
- 167 x 30
These ads are keyword-targeted, and charged cost-per-click and these are targeted to other mobile webpages only. Not a lot of process is involved for publishers who are using the Ads for mobile code, as they just have to update the code choosing only for image ads, or a mix of both image and text ads.
Contextual advertising will help to keep the ad most relevant and so the people browsing on mobiles will have more interaction on the mobile web. These ads are limited to countries presently Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, the UK, and the US. Google would surely be looking to expand this network very soon.
