Most popular searches in Google, Yahoo and Ask for 2008

search enginesYear 2008 is about to end and till now, the most searched keywords in the best search engines have to be mostly about other websites, gadgets or celebrities. In a discussion in Webmasterworld, the most popular keyword searches of Yahoo and Ask.com have been revealed but the most popular searches in Google has not yet been revealed, but only the most popular product searches are known all over.

In Yahoo search engine, although this year the politics were all over famous, Britney Spears was the hottest search all time, beating WWE keyword too. 5 celebrities, 1 politician were in the top 10 list of Yahoo searches. Here is the top 10 list -

1. Britney Spears
2. WWE
3. Barack Obama
4. Miley Cyrus
5. RuneScape
6. Jessica Alba
7. Naruto
8. Lindsay Lohan
9. Angelina Jolie
10. American Idol

In the Yahoo News, most of the times, the hottest topics were related to Hurricanes, Elections, and Pakistan. Unusually, the “Pregnant Man” topic was also pretty famous whole of the year.

Ask.com can be said a poor search engine with the top 10 keywords which no one would expect. The top keywords are related to just the other search engines or websites, like Dictionary, Wikipedia, Google, Youtube etc. Why the heck would someone search for Google or Youtube in Ask.com when they can directly open Google.com to search something?

Google has still not revealed a list of popular searches but only the product searches have been released. Here are the top 10 products that have been searched highest in 2008 in Google -

8. nikon d90
9. zune
10. digital picture frame

    (sigh) I remember the good ol’ days when adult related search terms where the most popular. Now it seems we want to talk aout Brit Spears and Barack instead.
