New trackpad for Notebooks – multi-touch Glass Trackpad – Apple

October 14th, 2008 | View Comments

The live blog speaks right now -

Steve Jobs:

We’ve got a new trackpad for notebooks. A large, multi-touch GLASS trackpad. It’s a 39% larger tracking area, has multi-touch gestures, and has a glass for “silky-smooth travel”.
The entire trackpad is the button. You can also get multi-buttons via software.
There are also now four-finger gestures.

So the trackpad is going to be bigger surface for better tracking and navigation. What else do we expect? The next post is going to be about the new macbook pros and Jobs has already talked about it. Just matches the quality of this new trackpad.

Two finger gesture = pinch and rotate for zooming and panning. Three finger gestures = swiping between photos. Four fingers = expose and app switching.

Multi-touch and four-finger gestures are 2 geeky cool features.
Along with the trackpad, some things that were talked about in the event are the new macbook pro, the 24-inch cinema display and the new macbook.

This is definitely cool. One of the couple of interesting things to come out from yesterdays event – the other being the laser etched manufacturing process.
