No browserless Windows 7 in Europe – Windows 7 E
On June 12th, Microsoft had decided to provide Windows 7 “E” to European users, but now it isn’t. Windows 7 “E” was going to be the browserless version of Windows 7 which they were going to supply due to compliance with the European Law in which supply of IE browser was not allowed.
And today, Microsoft says that it will supply Windows 7 with browsers, to those who pre-ordered the E version too.
Deputy general counsel Dave Heiner said:
“In the wake of last week’s developments, as well as continuing feedback on Windows 7 E that we have received from computer manufacturers and other business partners, I’m pleased to report that we will ship the same version of Windows 7 in Europe in October that we will ship in the rest of the world,
One reason we decided not to ship Windows 7 ‘E’ is concerns raised by computer manufacturers and partners”
Recently, users were allowed to pre-order the Windows 7 “E” version in a discounted price, but they will receive the full package without any more payment needed.
There is no note on the Windows 7 “N” version, so that might be still being shipped. (N version is the one without Windows Media Player)
