Nokia E71 mobile phone review - Best QWERTY keypad Mobile
Nokia E71 is another superb gadget from Nokia, which has some awesome features and looks like a perfect business model mobile phone for managing and sending emails through it. Powered with Symbian, it has a beautiful QWERTY keypad without any slide.
Design and Specifications of Nokia E71 -
After E51 and E65, the Nokia E71 proved that the E-Series mobiles by Nokia are not the strange box designs, but are improved a lot, giving a great look. These are now just similar to the attractive looking N-series mobiles, which is always getting better and better with models like N96 etc.
Nokia E71 is one of the finest QWERTY keypad mobiles, which have a sleek design and does not look weird without the slide design. When you would compare this with any other similar looking Blackberry mobile, your vote would go for this one rather than Blackberry.
The 10mm width makes this one fit into any thin pocket, and the width, although a bit bigger than others, looks matching with the length of the phone. Overall, the dimensions of 114 x 57 x 10 mm make it look like a standard smart phone.
The screen, shortcut keys and keypad are all very well laid out, and make it easy for the user to access any part of the mobile menu with the shortcut keys.
The keypad is not flat, and so the small size of the keys won’t matter a lot. The raised keys are easy to press and type, a good point against many other flat keypads which are not liked by the users, as they make it difficult to type something. The QWERTY keypad is far better than what you would see on other similar phones made by Nokia and Blackberry!
Look on the multimedia features -
RAM in E71 is double than the other E-series mobiles and so, the speed is faster and the web connectivity is also good with Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A2DP and bluetooth providing at least one option everywhere to stay online. You have the option to set up personal emails through the mobile phone in the easiest way, and there is also support for Microsoft Exchange. But you would have to set it, as it’s not available by default.
Web browser supports flash, and you can view youtube videos! What else would you want? The web browser has capacity to show full pages, which are not on mobile version and also the browsing speed and clarity of pages in the built-in browser is appreciable.
Still, for those who would not like to stick to the built-in browser, the Opera mini browser is compatible and can be downloaded.
Nokia Maps is pre-installed for exploring through the place, and getting directions to anywhere, additionally there is voice navigation.
The internal memory is 110 MB and there is a memory slot which can support memory card of upto 8 GB. So lot of stuff storage is possible, and RAM being higher, there is no risk of phone speed getting slower.
Camera and music details -
Camera is one of the things Nokia did not look at well, and has given it a 3.2 MP camera which does not take really clear pictures. Nothing when compared to the 3.2 MP cybershot camera phones of Sony Ericsson.
The music and video playback is fine and with good clarity, but the youtube videos which can be loaded in the default browser of the mobile, do not come with a good quality, and sometimes the voice precedes the picture in the video. There is an option to access the Nokia music store and download music.
Pros -
- Gorgeous QWERTY keypad
- Lots of options for web connectivity
- Flash support in browser
- Create personal email addresses easily, and manage emails
- Faster performance
- Memory expandable upto 8 GB
Cons -
- Homescreen switch feature, not needed
- No gaming support of N-Gage
- Camera 3.2 MP, blurry image quality
Final words -
Nokia E71 is said to be one of the best QWERTY keypad mobiles, with some awesome features for business people, one of them being the emailing option, and a well built-in browser. A great gadget for businessmen. So, can be called as an iPhone and blackberry killer along with the Nokia 5800 Tube!
My rating for this mobile : 4/5 Rating:

I bought a new one from Vodafone. 6 weeks later it totally ceased. It’s been sent off for repair. Vodafone refused to replace it.
Reply to this comment:It was great but a total failure after 6 weeks is totally unacceptable.
