Open mailto: email links from Google Chrome in Gmail account

October 7th, 2008 | View Comments

chrome mailerThanks to lifehacker, we found another good tool for chrome. In Google chrome browser, when u click on a link that leads to mailto:emailaddress, the default mail client for windows, like Windows Outlook opens up. Gmail is a better option than that.

ChromeMailer helps to send the mails through gmail, and when a link of mailto: is clicked, it directly opens the mail option in gmail rather than any default mail client.

It is a 200 Kb MSI file, windows installer based. And it works on both Windows XP and Windows Vista. In Windows Vista, you will need to have the administrator rights to install it, or there will error pop-up appearing if you are running on User Account Control. It requires an up-to-date .NET installation in Windows XP.

You can download that tool by visiting here. via lifehacker!

Any ideas? thanks, Arjun

I made a little vbscript and a reg hack to let me use chrome to send mail from craigslist. Google talk doesn’t include the mailto subject syntax. At the website.
