Phplinkdirectory team has released a new version of directory script 3.0.4 which includes loads of improvements and new features, for both admin and editors which helps in frontend and backend directory administration and many others which are listed below.
Here are the new features that you would see in the phpLD 3.4 version of web directory software -
Frontend administration and editing – There will be 4 levels of membership in the administration, namely Site Admin, Super Editor, Editor and User. They will have different levels of administration options and some are limited to backend editing, while Site Admin can play with every option on the frontend too.
The Super editor gets all the rights in the admin panel, but is limited only with the backend, nothing can be done in the frontend panel.
Cleanup of the Hits Table – This might be useful only for the directory owners, but not the people who submitted their websites. Some users always click on the websites they submit through the directory, to increase the number of hits. From this upgrade, this option will be gone, and multiple clicks wont work. Also, during the calculation and add-up of hits count, the server load can’t be handled easily, so this option disabled can help a lot.
Category RSS Feeds – Now there will be option of RSS feeds in every category, for which anyone can subscribe to, the category which they are interested in finding new resources.
MCE Editor as in WordPress – The text editor that wordpress script has, is the same in this version of phpLD. Its MCE editor and its far better than the FCK editor.
Email confirmation required – This is an excellent addition, with users required to confirm the submission through the validation link they are sent through email. This is not a compulsory option though, it can be disabled, if its a paid submission. Because free submissions are more spammy and can have fake email addresses, that being the reason for this option of email confirmation.
Featured and regular links together – Now you don’t need to search for links separately. When searching for any link in the backend, you will be automatically searching through the featured and regular links. And then in the search results, you can sort them with Link Type, separating featured and regular links.
Payment for articles??? Not sure if anyone would enable this option, because paying for articles would be very rare within paid directories. But still, the 3.4 version has this optional feature.
There are many other features as below -
- Improved Security
- Less Attention to Reciprocal Links
- Remember Page When Logging In
- Multiple Mod Rewrite Options (SEO URLs)
- Comments and Ratings for Links
- Category Sorting in Admin
- Dated Release of Articles
- Delete As Spam
Pricing changes -
Earlier the price for single license with the backlink included, was $25 and now thats changed to $30 for a single license. The $75 license for no-linkback now costs $80.
