Plugin Friday 1 – SEO Smart Links linking keywords

And now, after Monday Video specials, Wednesday will be the day for plugin reviews. WordPress plugins, best of the best will be reviewed and shared in this section every wednesday.

So here is the first Wednesday plugin – SEO Smart Links

SEO Smart Links is a wordpress plugin that helps in optimizing your blog by linking some keywords automatically to some pages that you set to get it linked to. You can see the perfect example of this in the apple macbook review post, where you would see many keywords linked to category pages and other posts. I did not link each of them manually but have just set this plugin to link those keywords to the desired pages.

If you want them for pure SEO purpose, do not select the no-follow option, or else only to make navigation easier, no-follow linking would do.
You will also have the option of either making the link open in the same window or in a new window.

Here are the key features that you might see with regards to SEO Smart Links Plugin -

  • Find keywords in your posts, pages and comments and link them to your other posts, pages, categories and tags
  • Full control with customizable options
  • Ignore list for keywords you do not want to link
  • Improves your site’s interlinking
  • Control external links with custom keywords
  • Add nofollow attribute or open links in new window
  • Caching for speed – make sure you have define(’ENABLE_CACHE’, true); set in your wp-config.php

Pro – It does not alter a keyword which you want to link to a page, but is already linking to some other URL. So, only the free and non-linking keywords are linked by this plugin.

How to Install -

  • Just download the zip file, and extract it.
  • Then upload the plugin file to wp-conent/plugins folder of your file manager.
  • Activate it in your dashboard plugins section.
  • Go to settings > SEO Smart Links and set the keywords and the URLs to be linked.

Note – Before installing this plugin, backup your database.

I’ve used this SmartLinks program in the past for a website I used to run, and it was a very helpful tool in increasing my PageRank and search engine visibility. I’d recommend it to everyone.

  2. I have been using this for a while, I think it’s ok, how many links would you suggest in a page for SEO purposes, also with the recent google penalty for interlinking sites, do you think it’s wise to continue using this for SEO linking to another site that I own

  3. Resale Centre says:

Love this plugin, I recently installed the plugin and it helps perfectly with internal linking, and refreshing older posts with new links to other new posts that you have created. Definitely one of the best mods I have downloaded for WP!
