Plugin – How to create tables in wordpress blog post?
Tables are a good part of a post if you want to show some score card, earning charts or something else. And creating charts and tables in Microsoft office tools and integrating them to wordpress is just hard for everyone. And for wordpress blogs, there is a plugin for that.
It is wp-table plugin for wordpress blogs. It helps in integrating multiple tables into a post, and customizing the tables in every way as you like.
This plugin creates and manages tables for wordpress. So you can post i.e. sport results in a fixed table format. You don’t need to enter tables anymore in the plain text mode and the WYSIWYG editor didn’t damage the table layout. The table layout can be changed via a css file and you can import a csv file as table.
There are many settings where you can -
- Add or remove columns and rows
- Customize the stylesheet and fix the size of table
- Colors can be changed from the Manage > Tables panel
- Can make multiple tables and use in a single post
- Have the option of sorting the list in table with some order
There are many options that you would come across when playing around with the plugin.
How to install the plugin?
Copy all files in the plugin folder “wp-table” . Activate the plugin and start under Manage -> Tables to edit your first table. The plugin creates automatic one sample table in you wordpress database. If you would like to edit online the CSS file, set the write permission for wp-table.css .
Edit everything through the Manage > tables section and then every table will be given an ID. In the blog post, use this code -
[TABLE=ID]
Replace ID with the number or your desired table, and its set.
Check the plugin homepage to download.

Although I hate websites like MySpace that design their entire site around tables, there are definitely times when it’s appropriate to use tables within the body of a post, so I’ll definitely be bookmarking this plugin.

Hey great post I enjoyed reading that. Would this be suitable as a football table solution? I am currently building a community football website for the local team and am having trouble finding a pluggin that would automatically reposition teams on the table when scores are put in. Does anything like this exist? thanks

I am still confused on how to insert the tag into a post. The instructions say Go to your post an enter the tag [TABLE=ID]. I know the ID is just the number of the table. My question is how do I insert that into the post. When I put that code into the source part of the blog, nothing happens. Thanks.
