Quick update : Alexa improved
As i was already thinking of alexa and its algorithm of ranking in it, today while checking my traffic rankings i found that alexa has just changed their algorithm in ranking the websites for traffic ranks. This will be a good news for website owners who do not always get visitors with toolbars installed.
The best would be apple oriented website owners, as the alexa toolbar cannot be installed in apple macbooks. And now this might be a good answer from alexa to people who criticise alexa(including me).
Though they have not correctly included the data but when you check the traffic rankings, you would have seen some changes made, and the info about the changes is also shown in their website. They just say they are improving as alexa is now pulling some other stats from various sources to rank websites in a better way.
I would update with a new post if i see more info about the changes and improvement done by them, but it is for sure now that just the toolbar is not important to get better rankings in alexa.

I was 180k last update but this change in algorithm made its rankings go down.

Yeah, so did I. Balkhis was I believe in 180k and now is in 160k with yesterday’s traffic under 80k. PRetty sweet

Although the present rank drop, i am happy to see the changes in their way of ranking actually. As you all said, i will be getting some nice rank soon and am expecting that because its not all alexa toolbar installed visitors but am getting traffic from search engines too very well

My stayed at around the same - that means I haven’t been overemphasizing one aspect (Alexa toolbar / Link back / SEO etc.) so that’s a good thing I guess.
I hope we find more info about this soon. They say “algorithm” all the time and we never really get to know what the changes are.

Strangely, we are seeing a consistent increase in the number of unique visitors through Statcounter.com, the changes in Alexa ranking are slightly dis-aligned.
Wondering, how to make our visitors install Alexa Tool bar!!!
