There are many people who use Windows mail and they always try to go easier with it by setting it up with Gmail from Google. There are a few settings required both in the gmail account and windows live settings. POP and client configuration is one of the major and important steps.
Here are the steps which you have to follow to make the setup -
1. Enable POP in Gmail.
- POP - Post Office protocol.
- To enable POP, you have to login to your gmail account, go to the settings page, and then click on “Forwarding and POP/IMAP”.
- Select the option “Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on“.
2. Configure your Windows Mail client.
- Open Windows Mail.
- Then click on the tools menu and select the Accounts option.
- Click on “Add” and then Select Email Account, and click Next.
- Enter your name and full email address.
- Then fill the following information in the page with blank fields -
Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: pop.gmail.com
Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing server requires authentication: enabled
- Then, login to gmail with your ID and password.
