Shorten URL and Share, Promote – Go2.me URL shortener
There are hundreds of URL shortening services on the web, which do the same job of shortening long website URLs and nothing more than that. A very few are known for being different, and one of them was bit.ly which shared stats etc. of the shortened links. And now this URL shortener Go2.me brings in the link sharing, and commenting feature into its URL shortening tool.
This URL shortener produces very short URLs, unlike tinyurl but lacks the feature of optional URL extension which tinyurl provides. Here is what the site tells you about it -
You can use Go2.me to take any long link (URL) and convert it to a shorter one that you can send in Twitter, IM, or Email messages. Your link will not only display the page you want to share, but also add an information box where your readers can comment on your link.
A few cool features -
- Comments – You can exchange comments with the other readers who got the shared link.
- Feedback – Check how many people read your link, and what their feedback on that is.
- Title – Add a title to every link you share, and make it better known.
- Personalize – Add a nickname and get a summary of all your shared links.
- Add tags – You can add tags to the comments and then search for links with the tags. Like ex. tag video.
- It is something similar to Popacular, the way links are shown for a particular tag.
You can also have it as a bookmarklet in your browser and shorten the URL faster than going to the website and then suggesting the URL to shorten. There is also a recently popular URL list.

A lot of url shortening websites are going live in the web. Still XR.com is the shortest I know.

These websites are popping up on a daily basis now. And just as quick as they come they also go just as quick.

Both XR.com and Go2.me generate a self promotional mandatory frame on all redirects. Is.gd is one of the most respected URL redirectors due to a good sense of humour, speed and reliability.
@Hussein: XR.com and Go2.me are the same length.

Yea, it seems like a strange market to become so saturated. I’m curious why so many competitors are entering it. I like the notion of feedback by Go2.me but I still don’t know how big of a difference the features will add.

@Xscape: @DoesWhat: @David Hobson: @Hussein:
It is mostly because of the usage of these services in the micro blogging sites and social networks to shorten the shared url’s and so the competition.
