Its always been a problem when selecting a domain name for a website, especially when it is for a good business make-up or for a company, which expects some potential for their business through online promotions. So i had to come up with this topic as i was not able to, and always have a problem with selection of a perfect domain name for any kind of website of mine. My websites normally have weird names, not much attractive because i select them, and i suck at selection of names and colors for anything.

And not just the name but other factors are taken into consideration by me when starting up something new -
- The name not to be too lengthy, and very short.
- Name having keyword related to the topic or niche.
- The domain name having all its other tld extensions not registered yet.
- Not having your name in the domain, until its your personal blog.
- Domain should be brand new, and not a dropped one.

This blog actually having a name thewwwblog, was inspired and suggested by my friend Sharat Jaswal and i just loved the name, and everything done in a few minutes and blog was ready very fast, but then, this is just a random internet stuff blog, so i didnt think much in selecting a name for it. But if its some other single niche blog or website, there are some problems in selecting the domain name, such as being hard in connecting keywords in domains with brand of the website.

This post actually don’t have suggestions from my side, as i myself am not good at domain name selection but i want people to suggest me things in selecting a domain name for a website that is related to online and offline tips and tricks. Any one-liner tips, health tips, online tips etc. all to be in a single blog so not able to understand which would properly fit in.
After reading posts in John Chow’s and Darren Rowse’s blogs, i got nothing more than confusion, as hundreds of comments there stating both pros and cons of including keywords, names in the domain name would just leave you nowhere but still thinking of what to do actually.

The best suggestions from people what i had read are -
Including keywords would help in getting more organic traffic, but does not help in branding(but what has branding to do with a random tips website?)
Including name in the domain name would not help much(couldn’t find any perfect reason that supports this statement, but i don’t agree to this fact. Try AskDaveTaylor.com, it looks just beautiful and branded although Dave has his full name included in it.)
Go for older, already used domains that can give you easier rankings(but geesh! i just don’t like to gain from other’s work..)

So what all do you suggest for selection of a perfect domain name? Does it need to have keywords in it or it isn’t that important?
And as said, i need suggestions for selection of a tips kinda website. Hoping to see some excellent comments and suggestions from you guys :)
