google blogging tipsGoogle support section has mentioned a few good tips for bloggers who can do better with their blogs, and can be a better blogger for search engines apart from their readers.
Like us, Google also tells that having a blog is better than a website as getting some content into the web is more easier with a blog, and also blogs are easy to create and manage. And you can rapidly add content which attracts more readers to your blog.

And Google has divided the tips into 3 categories -

  • Creation of content
  • Making sure your content is read
  • Webmaster tools for bloggers

Creation of content -
Creating some content which you think would just reach the top of SERPs is not enough, you are writing for your readers and they should understand and like it. Google too says -
A useful post once a week is better than low-quality content published daily.

And keep searching for things in your subject and if you don’t find any relevant results, you can write about it in your site. Many other might also be searching for the same.
There are certain webmaster guidelines given by Google which you have to follow to be the best with google and create relevant and useful content in your site. More usage of media, or images in the blog posts makes your post content rich and better.

Organize your blog posts with tags, labels or categories so that it is easier for your readers to navigate through the blog, rather than them keep searching for everything.
Limit the comment spam in your blog, as comments have been a great way for people to spam and try to get backlinks.

Making sure your content is read easily by readers and crawlers -
One thing you make sure is to have titles that are descriptive and can be well caught by readers and in some blog platforms, the title helps in creating the unique permalink URL for your blog post, so having weird title would produce bad URL. So keep the title both SE and reader friendly.

Couple other tips in this section are creation of RSS feed and connecting with other bloggers and people of same subject. There are many people who are in the same field as yours and this can attract more readership to your blog, and RSS feed subscription can help in returning traffic daily when you post something new in your blog.

Webmaster tools for bloggers -
You should add your blog to the webmaster tools and keep google knowing about your blog and its new content. If you are using Blogger platform, then you can add your blog to webmaster tools through your dashboard settings.
Verify your ownership of blog with Google and increase the trust and then add the META tags etc.
Submission of a sitemap is another step to do, with which you can tell Google about any new content that you post on your blog and you can also use your RSS URL in your sitemap.

These were some best tips from Google, and i myself say to everyone finally -
Make your blog for readers, not for Google.

Good stuff; nice to see Google’s position on 1 good post/week is better than a ton of junk posts.

  • After the whole post your final statement must rate as the ultimate tip! Readers are more important than Google, because no matter how well optimized your site might be, if you’re dishing up garbage the readers won’t linger and definitely won’t return!

  • Sherry says:

I was told that its better to write more than 50 words of post. I always write them short. :(

  • This post of yours has summed it all. Isn’t it?
Original content just for the general audience should be the prime motive of a blog. Once that is done, rest everything else falls in place as you wanted.

Even better thing is that we do not be a mediocre and start writing about things which all the people on the net are writing. Instead write about something that no one writes about. Our views, Our reviews. And for the obvious reason you will get the original content!

  • Those are some nice tips..
    I follow them already…
some people just spam their blogs with short spammy posts.

  • David Cheong says:

Actually I did follow those tips, and in fact it really work well on few of my blogs.
@Make money online, true and agree. Some even use portion of the post content and paste on their post…
