Twitter undergoes homepage facelift

twitter logoTwitter has been working on this from quite some time, and finally they are trying out a new homepage for people who are new to the site. If you are logged in to your account, you won’t see any changes, but once you logout, the changes on the homepage would be visible to you.
This change can make people get more involved into the site right from the start of their journey. With this change, it has also become more speaking of Twitter not being just a status update site, but a social network of its own kind.

There are no changes seen in the interface after you login, except the “Updates” word changed to “Tweets” officially for everyone, but that’s nothing big against this homepage facelift.
Here is what Twitter is trying to explain people with the new homepage:

Explaining the power – The first thing a new person onto the twitter homepage would ask, Why should i join this site? Twitter wants to show them the power and let them know how they can be updated every minute, and Twitter can be their discovery engine and they can get involved into anything new being talked on Twitter.

Trends of various time frames – On the homepage itself, there are 3 lists: Trending topics of the present minute, day and the week. This shows what’s popular on the web, as Twitter is one of the major parts of the web right now.

Share and Discover – As the tagline says, “Share and discover what’s happening right now, anywhere in the world” it rightly explains that the site is not just the same. Its not only for people to share what they are doing but a lot other things can be shared.
