Twitter launches verified accounts

twitter verified accountTwitter has launched the verified accounts feature finally, but without any notification and without any big changes that one can notice.
Its a feature that is launched to prevent identity confusion but is actually causing a lot of confusion as no one is sure about -

  • Who all got verified
  • How to get their accounts verified
  • How twitter judges if its the real account that requested for the verification.

According to twitter, its those people who are usually hit by impersonation or many duplicate accounts from someone else to confuse the followers, whose account would be verified to prevent the confusion.
Twitter verifies an account, and lets users know that the twitter user is a real member and trustable, and they get a badge above their profile username which makes things easier for one to decide whether to follow or not.

With this option, a member searching for users from the Find People page will easily know about the verified member as it would be mentioned in the list.

As of now, its just the individual members who would be getting verified upon request and only if you are a victim of big confusions, and business accounts would not be verified.
