How to Upgrade to iOS 7 Right Now with GM Version & iTunes 11.1 Beta

iOS 7Apple has said that the Apple iOS 7 would be officially available for the public from September 18, and right now the Gold Master GM version is available for the developers to make the applications, but that won’t restrict you from updating your iOS version to iOS 7. You can always do that by downloading the IPSW file and forcing the device update from Apple iTunes which has to be on its latest version. First step you need to do is to download the IPSW file from the list of links given below, along with the iTunes 11.1 Beta version.

How to Upgrade to iOS 7

First of all, for any update you need to backup your device as it’s risky and your data can be deleted anytime. Take a backup by connecting your device to iTunes and let the software do its part. This being the GM version which is almost the official version itself, you won’t be seeing any issues but why to ignore the risks.

Once you have downloaded the iOS 7 IPSW file and the iTunes 11.1 Beta version from the above given links, connect the device to the computer using the USB cable, and then open the new installed iTunes 11.1 beta.

  • It’s a disk image file so you need to extract it and then find the IPSW file which is the actual iOS 7 file which you are trying to upgrade. Drag it to the desktop or any folder which would be easier to navigate later on.
  • Open iTunes after connecting the device. You will be able to see the device detected, and if not, go to the Summary tab where you can locate the device.
  • Press and hold the option key (OS X) or the shift key (Windows) and then click on “Restore” so that you can select the IPSW file.
  • Once the file is selected, the iTunes would start the update and you don’t need to do anything else from there.
