Urban Dictionary, the same first made me think of some dictionary of worldwide accepted terms in general. But its totally different. Its a dictionary which is powered by and for the users, and any user can add to the site, introduce a new word each day.
You and me might wonder what the term “Caps Lock Voice” mean and relate it somewhere with computer language. But its just suggested as this by some random user -
When a normally calm person has to raise their voice and use an authortative tone. It is the equivalent to using the caps lock key in the digital world.
The Urban dictionary lists words that suggested by users and most of them are funny to read and you too can suggest some meaning to it, or suggest a really new word into the dictionary.
You don’t just see words with their unlimited meanings, but also there are images along with the words that might be related to the word. Like if you search for “Paris Hilton”, the actual actress is in the images, sharing the place with a hotel named Paris Hilton.
Another good example is -
“boyfriend bomb” which means “when the woman you are interested in reveals that she has a boyfriend”
“text support” which means “encouragement from friends sent via text message”
The site is pretty easy to navigate with all the words searchable alphabetically and the latest submitted words are arranged chronologically.
