WordPress 2.6 to be released in Mid July 2008

WordPress always trying to be in the higher and better levels, is now set to release a newer version of its blog platform, and this is expected to be on July 7th or July 14th 2008. There are a few changes made from the previous version 2.5 and bug fixer 2.5.1 versions.
Here are a few changes that a wordpress user might be seeing in the new version -
- Add paging of Themes in Design panel
- Feature called Version/Revision saves a copy of the post that you edited, and you can just view it and see the difference of the changes you made.
- Theme Previewer option as default, which could be done earlier through a plugin.
- Display of word count when you write or edit posts or pages.
- Gallery sorting
- Press this bookmarklet
- Export/import post excerpts
- Check (assigned) Categories at top Category box in Write/Manage Post
- 2 categories can have sub-categories with the same name
Lets expect this one to be really better and not come with bugs that happened with WordPress 2.5
For mobile bloggers(like me), one of the features is very much good for us, as some assigned categories remain on top while posting and you can set your favorite categories on the top for always and select from those. It would be easier to understand for those who are using Opera Mini 4.1.

I don’t like upgrades… I don’t think I’ll upgrade it unless there is something super new coming out I’m good with the 2.5

Hopefully I’ll be updating my platform tomorrow. =). You gotta love the open source community… Linux… WordPress… having the freedom to upgrade or not upgrade or use or not to use, etc. It’s wonderful. Not to mention the vast troubleshooting database known as Google.
