WordPress 2.8 releasing on 10th June, 2009 is going to have many new features that every wordpress user would love to use and enjoy, as the new interface would not only have new additon of features but also improvements as suggested from the last version by the users.
Here are a few expected features which the WordPress developers and testers did with WordPress 2.8 -
Customization of dashboard widgets – The widgets in pages of dashboard were earlier movable and so you could rearrange them to your ease, but now you might have the ability to mention how many columns you would like to see in that particular dashboard page.
Custom headers – The header of a theme when newly installed can be easily customized and you can ad your own header text and an image with cropping, before you actually make any custom header and upload it. So, your readers won’t see any default headers in any new theme installed by you.
Customization of views options of data – In the admin interface, you would see a stat number for everything like no. of posts(published, draft, scheduled etc.) but if you wish, you can remove all that stats and have a general list of all of them without any stat for particular things.
Theme browser and installer – Just like the plugins, which were easily getting installed through the admin interface, the themes also would now be available for installation directly than the FTP usage for uploading the themes.
If this feature is coming for real, then it would make things a lot easier as many new wordpress users still keep wondering how to upload themes into wordpress blog directory.

Theme widgets drag and drop – Dragging and dropping the theme widgets in the interface is possible, and so the customization of the theme gets easier.
Also, as always the speed of the Dashboard loading is expected to get faster than the 2.7 version of WordPress.
The release on 10th June would reveal the total and final changes done from the previous versions.
