World’s largest mobile phone memory card capacity from Sandisk - 16GB

sandisk 16gb memory cardSandisk corporation has announced that its going to launch in the market, the highest capacity memory cards for mobile phones, with the space of 16 GB in both the MicroSDHC and the M2 memory cards.

There were no removable mobile storage cards higher than 8GB earlier, and now its double than that.

Avi Greengart, Research Director for Mobile Devices at Current Analysis, said -
“Handsets have become far more than just phones - they’ve become mobile jukeboxes, mobile offices, even mobile movie theaters. Flash memory cards have increased in storage capacity, but even an 8GB card may be too small for anyone with GPS map data, a few movies, a game or two, a presentation file and other applications. There is an acute need for more mobile storage capacity. 16GB gives consumers the ability to carry their digital content with them and still have room to do more with their mobile phones.”

The launch of this big capacity cards would never keep the mobiles full with their favorite things, as 16 GB is nothing less.
SanDisk’s 16GB microSDHC card has an MSRP of $99.99 and the 16GB M2 card has an MSRP of $129.99.
These cards are coming with 5-year limited warranty. Best Buy and Verizon Wireless are the first one to sell these memory cards.

    Varun,

I suppose there are going to be some of the new mobiles which would allow the 16 GB memory cards in them!
Not the old ones as of now.
