Youtube mutes videos with Unauthorized copyright music
Youtube, the largest video sharing and uploading website, after its deal with MGM for full movies, and launch of Sponsored videos, is still good and well fighting with its Copyright laws. The videos which have unauthorized copyright music, will be there running fine, but you will be able to access it only with eyes, as there would be no sound coming out.
Youtube has decided to mute the videos which do not have legal or authorized music to play.
People used to do many tricks like adding their own video to the original music, before it is released with copyright laws etc. and this all will now be thoroughly checked and muted down by Youtube.
One of the examples of Videos is this.
This is what is gives just below the video box -
NOTICE: This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled. More about copyright.
This is a good step taken by Youtube, but it would be good if they do this for the new videos which are being uploaded from now. Because, if all the old and new videos are worked on, then thousands of videos and lacs of fans would be affected. This will make viewer base reduction in Youtube. If not, then the number of negative comments against Youtube would increase.

Oooooh! This could prove to be interesting. If they decide to block audio on old clips with unauthorised copyright music usage it will lead to a lot of unhappiness amongst users. Loads of effort go into some of the productions, and as amateurs expressing themselves there is no monetary gain that artists could want a piece of. They should appreciate the exposure, and maybe get given proper credit for the use of their work, enhancing their reputations in that way. For corporate productions I understand, but what is the % on youtube?
That’s a bad news for me. I love watching music videos in YouTube. But I believe there are more other ways to watch not only Youtube. This new rule might decrease the regular visitor count of YouTube.
@SEO Tips South Africa: That is the matter of concern. If its just the new videos, then there would be no problem, but if the old videos are being worked on similarly, then that would really effect Youtube.
Lets see how it goes!
Tricky situation they’re in……….a tough balance between the copyright laws (open to some intrepretation) and keeping the users happy.
That would be a logistical nightmare to monitor new videos being uploaded.
This has been coming for a long time and i am not very suprised by it.
I’m not happy with this. They really are using no discretion and just stopping all videos. I have a number of compilation videos which include short clips of a variety of copyright sources and they’re all being hit. It doesn’t make sense to me when you’re not replacing the material.
this is really stupid acualy, i dont know of 1 person who is like “you know i dont need to go buy this cd now! because i just listen to the music on videos on you tube! its great and free” its more like “hey wow this band is really good il go get the cd soon” or ” il wait and listen to this cd on you tube to see if its worth buying” i mean people are not making profit from these videos, its almost like free advertising for bands and artists. besides if you were a recording artist or band, think about it… more chances for your music to be listened to, and if that only means 20 or 100 more people will go and download your music for free off a torrent somewhere instead of buying it, then your not what do you have to be upset about those people eather would have never bought it in stores and never herd it, proly wouldnt go see a live show or buy a tshirt because they havnt herd of you before. yeah its a shame people can download music for free but id (as an artist myself) prefer if someone downloaded it for free instead of not getting it at all.
