firefox logoFirefox browser which is always preferred over Internet explorer by me, has one of the best features in the realm of web browsers, i.e. the extensions.

The firefox extensions provide good flexibility for the browser and you can have many options and features added or removed through the extensions, also called as add-ons. If you are a video geek, like to upload or download videos, you can get extensions for that. If you are a webmaster or web designer, some extensions help to make your webmastering easier than before. And a lot more can be done.

I have been using many extensions for my blogging and web page browsing. And here is a good list of extensions which i would like to share with my fellow firefox users –

As its related to webmastering, Search engine optimization is one of the best things to go for betterment of a website, and you can use these add-ons.

SEO for Firefox extension – It pulls in a lot of data that is essential for a webmaster to know about a website which he is searching for. Here is what all you can see – PR, Age of the website, links pointing to the domain, .edu and .gov links pointing to the domain, del.icio.us bookmark number, alexa rank, dmoz and several other features and rankings.

KGen Extension – KGen retrieves every words of a page and lets you know how many time they appears on her and their weight in the page (a word in the title of a page has a stronger weight than a word in a paragraph).
This is useful when you are checking your competitor’s page and you can optimize your pages accordingly. These keywords can also be copied to your clipboard and used later in your pages directly.

SearchStatus extension – One of my favorite add-on which displays Google PageRank, Alexa rank and Compete ranking anywhere in your browser, along with fast keyword density analyser, keyword/nofollow highlighting, backward/related links, Alexa info and more. Highlights no-follow links in a web page, shows archive.org and whois data, robots.txt and also highlights any keywords in the page.

Other webmaster and web design related extensions –

This extension recognizes whether the extension in the URL is .pdf and confirms whether to open the file in a new tab or to download it to your desktop. Or it can convert the pdf into HTML.

You can configure it to display your frequently used information such as name, email, address and whatever else you want to be available from the form menu.
