Jailbreaking in iPhone 3GS is now possible with the tool called Purplera1n which can help you what was just being promised by the iPhone Dev team since some time. The Dev team was delaying the process of release of Jailbreak and unlook tools for iPhone 3GS 3.0 firmware but Geohot, another team working on something similar made this tool already available, but only for Windows right now.
The mac version is yet to be released so till then you can download the Windows version if you have Windows XP or Vista running in your computer. And before you tryout the program and jailbreak your iPhone 3GS, better have a backup with your iTunes as its just a beta and first release so no one can guarantee a 100% success with everyone.
You can download Purplera1n from here. (Original download link did not work. If this too doesn’t work, let me know)
Here is how to Jailbreak the iPhone 3GS with the help of Purplera1n –
- Download the program.
- Install iTunes 8.2 if you haven’t already
- Connect your iPhone to the computer
- Open Purplera1n program
- Click on “make it ra1n”
- Wait, and on bootup you should run the installer app of purplera1n called Freeze
- Then you would be instructed on how to complete the jailbreak process.
